1. Acceptance of These Terms
By creating an account or using Letterdove, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. What Letterdove Is
Letterdove is a letter correspondence service. The personas you write to are fictional characters generated by artificial intelligence. They are not real people. Anything a persona tells you about itself, including biography, opinions, or feelings, is part of a fictional character and should not be treated as fact, as professional advice, or as a real relationship with a person.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least eighteen years old to use Letterdove. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
4. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for anything that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you believe someone else has accessed your account.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Letterdove to break the law, to harass or harm another person, to try to obtain another user's personal information, or to try to manipulate or circumvent the automated safety screening described in our Privacy Policy.
6. The Nature of AI Generated Content
Content generated by Letterdove's personas is produced by a large language model. It is not reviewed by a person before it is delivered to you, except in the limited circumstances described in our Privacy Policy.
AI generated content can be inaccurate, does not reflect the views of Letterdove or its operator, and should not be relied on for factual, medical, legal, financial, or safety related decisions.
Letterdove is not a mental health service, a crisis service, or a substitute for care from a licensed professional. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, thinking about self-harm, or believe you may hurt another person, stop using the Service and contact emergency services or a crisis line right away. In the United States, you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or text HOME to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line.
Automated systems try to detect certain safety related content and respond to it, as described in our Privacy Policy. These systems are not perfect. They can miss content that should have been flagged, and they can flag content that did not need it. Please do not treat them as your only safeguard.
7. Subscriptions and Payment
Paid subscriptions, once available, are billed in advance on a recurring basis. You can cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
8. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, misused the Service, or created risk to yourself, another user, or Letterdove. You can stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time.
9. No Warranty
The Service is provided as is and as available, without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Letterdove and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim related to your use of the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim arose.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Letterdove and its operator from any claim, loss, or damage, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a change that matters, we will tell registered users directly. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
